NY See the Holiday Lights Tour - On Board Sightseeing Tours NY Tickets

  • About New York City Holiday Lights Tour – On Board Sightseeing Tours

The towering Rockefeller Christmas tree. The colorful Lord & Taylor window displays. The horse carriages winding through a Central Park draped in snow. New York City celebrates the holidays with big-city flair – as does the OnBoard New York City Holiday Lights Tour.

On Board’s popular night tour – the New York See the Lights Tour – converts into the On Board New York City Holiday Lights Tour from November 30 to January 5. The guided bus tour, combined with short walks, sets off from New York City’s most famous light show, Times Square. Along the way, you’ll witness the holiday spirit, New York-style – which means big, bold and flashy. Peer into the lavishly decorated holiday windows of New York City’s most famous stores, including FAO Schwarz, Lord & Taylor and others along glowing Fifth Avenue.

Plus, play out a scene from the classic film Miracle at 34th Street at Macy’s, the world’s largest department store. Macy’s – and Herald Square – go all out for the holidays, with plenty of tinsel, lights and jingle bells. The tour also takes a twirl through Columbus Circle, where you can see the horse carriages, the Time Warner Center and the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, home to the city’s best-known stages, from the Metropolitan Opera to the New York City Ballet. And, coast through Central Park, which takes on a fairytale sheen during the holidays, especially with a light dusting of snow.

New York City Holiday LightsTour also visits the magnificent Washington Square Arch in Washington Square Park, which was inspired by the Arc de Triomphe on Paris; and City Hall Park, presided over by gas lamps. Zip across the Manhattan Bridge, which affords lovely views of the Brooklyn Bridge and the Williamsburg Bridge. It’s a New York truism that the best views of Manhattan are off the island. You’ll agree when you gaze out at the New York City skyline from Fulton Ferry Landing in Brooklyn.

The tour also passes through the Bryant Park Holiday Market and the stately Beaux-Arts Grand Central Terminal. And, of course, you’ll see New York City’s true holiday highlight: the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree. The magnificent tree, which generally towers from 75 to 90 feet, is decorated with more than five miles of lights. It’s generally too crowded to disembark in the area, but you’ll still get the full effect – and the guides suggest that you return at a later time if you’d like to view it for longer. And, a bonus: At tour’s end, each participant is given a complimentary pass to the Top of the Rock Observation Deck, where you can gaze out at New York City in all its holiday glory.
