When Drew Barrymore shows up to rank your apartment, you know it is not going to be an ordinary tour. The actress and talk show host stepped into a $6,500-a-month New York City rental and immediately made herself at home, calling it “actually homey” as she admired bamboo trees on the patio and string lights in the backyard.

A Warm Welcome with Bamboo and String Lights

From the start, Barrymore lit up at the apartment’s cozy feel. Bamboo blinds and outdoor greenery gave it a calm, almost West Coast vibe in the middle of New York. String lights stretched across the backyard sealed it for her. “They’re like a life hack,” she said. “So romantic and cozy.”

The tenant, who lives with a married couple, explained they host dinner parties including one themed “dinner in the dark” where guests ate blindfolded. Barrymore declared the idea better than any dating app.

Inside the Apartment

The living room features a trendy couch, a cuddle cushion, and even a projector for movie nights. Barrymore called it “the hipster way of showing off” but admitted it felt perfect. The kitchen was neatly stocked, the fridge full of sandwiches and essentials, and the bathroom surprised Barrymore with its size. “This is bigger than any bathroom I’ve seen around here,” she said while admiring the penny tile and clawfoot tub.

Upstairs, natural light filled every corner. The apartment had a guest room, an upstairs patio, and a room decorated with affirmations and goals. Barrymore called the guest room “amazing,” a rarity in New York.

A Bed Ranked Five Stars

Barrymore was invited to test out the linens. She leapt onto the bed and gave it a perfect score. “It’s a five,” she announced, impressed by the layout and the atmosphere of the home.

Cold Plunge with a Twist

The tour ended with a very New York surprise. The host revealed a cold plunge on the rooftop deck, bags of ice included. Barrymore gamely prepared to try it, though not before nearly falling through a hole in the wooden deck. Laughing it off, she agreed to jump in.

A Drew Barrymore Kind of Day

What stood out in the tour was not just the $6,500 rent or the design choices but Barrymore’s delight in the little things: bamboo plants, string lights, sandwich-filled fridges, and a home that felt lived in. In a city of tight spaces and endless listings, this one managed to feel personal, playful, and uniquely New York.
